Stone Fusion are panels of natural stone laminated to glass.

The laminating process uses PVB
(Poly Vinyl Butyral)
as the interlayer.

The glass used for this process is low iron glass which vastly improves visual clarity. This is necessary to maximise the visual effect of the natural stone layer.

The best standard float glass still has a green cast that affects the colour fidelity of reflected light. This is most obvious when standard float glass is used in applications where colour accuracy is paramount.

Poly Vinyl Butyral has been chosen as the interlayer for the manufacture of Stone Fusion panels predominantly for the two following reasons:

1. Safety - PVB laminated glass has the advantage over standard glass in that it will not shatter as the polymeric interlayer is not subject to brittle failure as is the glass. Furthermore, the interlayer provides a barrier against penetration.

2. Adheasion - PVB provides the strongest bond between layers compared to any other laminating method currently used.

Stone Fusion panel can be used in place of any traditional glazing product. Typicaly the panels will greately enchance the look of any kitchen if used as a splash back which could even be backlit.
