Dalski Stone Products : Travertine

Travertine falls somewhere between marble and limestone for hardness and porosity, and is often characterised by a pitted surface that may be filled with grout. It is a white concretionary form of calcium carbonate that is usually hard and semicrystalline. It is deposited from the water of mineral springs (especially hot springs ) or streams holding lime in solution. It weighs less than marble or granite, and is relatively easy to quarry. The famous building Getty Museum in LA is faced in over 100,000 m2 of travertine.
